What to expect
Veterinary Permission
It is a legal requirement to gain consent from your vet prior to your animal being treated for physiotherapy. Our referral form can be downloaded here and filled out to be sent to your vet.
Case History
During your first consultation, we will discuss any relevant medical history, current exercise and home management as well as the aims and ambitions that you have for your animal.
Bio-mechanical Assessment
A full bio-mechanical assessment will be carried out, consisting of thorough observation and analysis of your animal standing, walking, trotting and turning. In some instances, with our equine clients, it may be beneficial to view the horse being lunged or ridden.
Hands-on Assessment
Refined palpation skills will be used to physically examine muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons to identify any areas of dysfunction, imbalance, restrictions or pain.
Treatment
After a thorough examination and interpretation of findings, treatment tailored to your pet will take place, which may include therapeutic techniques such as manual therapies, electrotherapies, remedial exercises and hydrotherapy when available.
Aftercare and Exercise
Full aftercare and exercise advice will be provided, as well as any remedial exercises that may be beneficial to your animal.
We can help you understand some simple anatomy of your animal throughout the treatment, which can support you to successfully train your animal in the correct way, thus optimising bio-mechanics and helping to ensure a longer career.
Equine Rehabilitation Services
This will follow a similar pattern but will include visits to your yard to complete prescribed exercise programmes. We will make an individually tailored plan for your horse, completing rehabilitative exercises and physiotherapeutic techniques to help your horse. We promise to regularly update you during this programme and give them the love and care they deserve.
